Services

Below you will find brief descriptions of the services offered in my practice.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a safe space that is co-created between you and your therapist. In therapy you can learn how to alleviate symptoms often associated with a myriad of problems. As a Marriage and Family Therapist I have extensive experience supporting client in the following areas:

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • trauma and PTSD

  • relationship problems

  • difficulty adjusting to change

  • grief

  • acquiring safe and healthy coping skills

  • self-esteem

  • crisis intervention

  • suicidal ideation

  • bi-polar disorder

  • schizophrenia

  • social skills

During your first two sessions I complete a thorough assessment to understand what brings you to therapy, personal and family history, attachment style, strengths and goals, and what makes you unique. Once your goals have been established we will collaboratively begin your work; this is a personalized process and different for each individual. I may make specific suggestions as a way to explore and experience new ways of being, but as a client you always have a right to say if a specific technique or intervention does not feel right and together, we will explore alternate paths to healing that work for you.

Couples therapy

I have trained with the Gottman Institute which provides an evidence-based practice, clinically proved to improve the quality of relationships, as well as The Couples Institute by learning and applying The Developmental Theory of Couples Therapy.

It is true that 69% of problems within relationships are perpetual, however, pain and suffering within the context of your intimate relationship need not to be. Couples therapy can lead to a more intimate connection between you and your partner and deepen your understanding of one another. In couples therapy you will learn how your attachment style impacts the here and now of how you relate to your partner and how to attend and attune to one another in ways that feel supportive and loving. You will learn to self sooth and co-regulate your emotions in a manner that is healing. You will focus on friendship, intimacy, emotions, how to process conflict, values, and repair trust.

Couple therapy begins with a 4-5 session assessment phase beginning with understanding what brings you to therapy, relationship history, and separate individual sessions. Additional relationship questionnaires are provided depending on the preference of the couple. In the final assessment session we review the information provided during the previous assessments and talk about goals and next steps.

If you are struggling with feeling connected in your relationship, want deeper intimacy, or have had a rupture in trust, couples therapy can offer a space for healing and repair.

Groups

Group therapy is an experiential and exciting form of therapy. We come to know ourselves within the context of our relationships with others, first by our experiences with our primary caregivers, followed by extended family members, and then our peers. However, with pressure to provide for ourselves and others and with the integration of technology into our daily lives, we are now more isolated than ever. As humans, we are created to be part of groups, so it makes sense and is natural that when in a place of uncertainty that we turn to our groups for support.

You will find that group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment in which to build trust and cohesion. You will find that many patterns of relating to self and others are replayed in the group setting. When this happens you will receive supportive and honest feedback about your patterns that may no longer be serving you and will have opportunities to connect in new, more authentic ways. The gratitude that is often experienced by group members for the ways in which group supports change can be immense. Group is less expensive than individual therapy and is as beneficial therefore it is an excellent option for someone who cannot afford individual therapy. Telehealth

Online therapy, often referred to as Telehealth, is when a therapist provides psychological counseling and support over the internet through email, video conferencing, online chat, or a phone call.

There are many benefits of online therapy

  • It Opens Doors and Resources

Whether it’s people in rural or remote areas, physical limitations for clients, no transportation, time limitations, difficulty with child care, or a lack of specialists in the area, online therapy offers access to mental health information and services that many people could not access otherwise. With Telehealth you only need to live in California to work with a licensed California therapist.

  • Convenience

Since you will be attending Telehealth appointments online in the comfort of your own home or private office, you can often schedule your therapy sessions for times that are the most convenient for you. When it comes to the specific commuting challenges of the Bay Area, online therapy can save you a lot of time battling traffic to and from the therapist office. If you don’t have to factor in commute time, it means you may have more availability in your week to schedule sessions.

  • Makes Information More Accessible

The Internet makes mental health information more accessible. Sadly, there is still a stigma around therapy and mental health services. Some people may feel more comfortable meeting with someone online than going to an office. Online increases the anonymity some people may need to reach out for help.

What do you need?

The only thing you need is a quiet, private room, a good internet connection, and a phone, tablet or laptop.

Sessions take place over HIPPA compliant platforms.
